Start with measured air demand, decide whether demand is steady or variable, then choose the compressor family, drive and packaged options that support production with the lowest practical lifecycle cost.
Is KTC the right fit?
KTC is a strong fit for workshops and industrial facilities that want a purpose-sized rotary-screw compressor with choices in footprint, speed control, transmission, receiver and dryer packaging. The current Airtek range runs from compact professional units through heavy industrial one- and two-stage systems.
Four decisions narrow the field
A compressor is part of an air system. Measure the process before choosing horsepower, then account for air quality, pressure loss and future production.
Measure current flow, peak demand, shift patterns, leaks and expected growth instead of estimating from connected horsepower alone.
Confirm the lowest useful pressure at the point of use plus drying, filtration and dew-point requirements.
Use fixed speed for sustained, stable demand or evaluate VSD where airflow changes meaningfully through the day.
Confirm electrical service, ventilation, heat rejection, receiver, dryer, drainage, redundancy and maintenance access.
Choose the platform before the options
These groupings make the current lineup easier to navigate. Exact flow, pressure, motor, voltage and package combinations vary by model and must be confirmed for the installation.
An integrated rotary-screw platform for applications that need industrial-style air in a compact package.
Compact belt- and direct-drive choices, with fixed-speed and variable-speed configurations across the family.
Higher-output industrial platforms with efficient direct-drive and variable-speed choices.
Configurable packaged series with tank, dryer, drive and VSD choices depending on the range.
Large direct-drive one-stage and two-stage platforms, available in fixed-speed and VSD configurations.
| Family | Scale | Speed / drive choices | Package choices | Useful starting point when… |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Compack | Compact professional | Fixed / selected VSD | Ground, receiver, dryer and selected VSD combinations | Floor space is tight and modest continuous air demand needs an integrated solution. |
| KME Series | Professional | Fixed / VSD | Model-dependent receiver and dryer configurations | A workshop or light-production system needs room to choose drive and controls. |
| KLE Series | Industrial | Direct / VSD | Base compressor packages | Production air, efficiency, lower speed and controls integration are priorities. |
| BCT-P / BCT-B | Professional to industrial | Belt / direct / VSD | Tank-mounted or ground; dryer options on selected packages | A preconfigured compressor package can simplify installation and piping. |
| DCT / DCT-2S | Heavy industrial | Fixed / VSD | One-stage or two-stage compressor systems | Large, long-running production demand justifies a heavy industrial platform. |
Airtek’s published core ranges are 3–20 HP / 10.2–56.5 CFM for Professional and 15–75 HP / 42.4–307 CFM for Industrial. Heavy Industrial models extend beyond those groupings. Confirm output at the required pressure and local electrical configuration before ordering.
Match technology to the demand pattern
The series narrows the physical and output range. These configuration choices often determine energy use, installation complexity and operating flexibility.
A strong starting point when air demand is stable and the compressor can spend most of its running time efficiently loaded.
Stable base demandAdjusts motor speed to changing air demand and can reduce unload losses in the right variable-demand application.
Fluctuating demandIntegrated packages can reduce field piping and footprint, while separate components may provide more sizing flexibility.
Packaged or separateBelt drive offers familiar serviceability; direct drive reduces transmission elements and can improve drivetrain efficiency.
Serviceability or efficiencyTwo-stage compression becomes relevant at large, sustained demand where lower specific energy can justify added complexity.
Heavy industrial analysisA compressor room is a complete production system
Bring these details to Airtek before ordering. They affect energy use, reliability, air quality, installation cost and the facility’s ability to expand.
Common buying questions
Fixed speed can be the efficient, economical choice for steady base demand. VSD is often better when demand varies substantially and the compressor would otherwise spend significant time unloaded. A measured demand profile is the best way to decide.
Most production systems benefit from properly sized storage and moisture control, but the correct arrangement depends on peak demand, control strategy, piping and required dew point. Some KTC families offer integrated tank and dryer configurations; Airtek can compare those with separate components.
Two-stage compression is generally evaluated for large, long-running industrial demand where energy efficiency over many operating hours can outweigh additional capital cost and complexity. It should be assessed using lifecycle cost, not output alone.
Horsepower helps describe the machine class, but it is not the sizing target. Compare delivered CFM at the required pressure, demand variation, air quality, control strategy and total system pressure loss.
Yes. Airtek can support demand analysis, equipment selection, installation, air treatment, repairs and scheduled maintenance from its Edmonton operation.
